1950sMary Luckern ’53, a long-time member of the Geneseo Alumni Association Board of Directors, received a 2006 Athena award from the Town of Geneva, N.Y., where she currently serves as supervisor. Ruth Hawley Gibson ’56 was presented with a Rotary International Paul Harris award, Rotary’s highest honor, in Aug. 2006. Ruth, secretary of the Geneseo Alumni Association, was honored for her work with exchange students and also received this same award in 2002.

1960sEllen McLernon Murray ’64 retired from her position as manager of information services with the Illinois Association of School Boards in July 2006. Thomas McIntyre ’66 was appointed trainer for the Sitel Corporation in Las Vegas, Nev. He was also an extra in the Warner Bros. movie “Lucky You”, starring Eric Bana, Drew Barrymore and Robert Duvall. Robert Anna ’68 is a third grade teacher and grade level chair with the Durham (N.C.) Public Schools. Daniel Minchen ’68 is associate professor of communication and business at Houghton (N.Y.) College. Kathy Winter ’68, the recipient of numerous research grants, and publication, film and broadcast awards, retired from her position as associate professor in the English department at the University at Albany. Edward Donovan ’69 is a science teacher and head coach for the Boys’ Cross Country team at James F. Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C. Patricia Laney ’69 received the Teacher-of-the-Year Award from the Department of Defense Education Activities in Nov. 2006. She is a fourth grade teacher with the Fort Bragg (N.C.) Schools.

1970Jane Cannon Coyle retired as supervisor of speech at the New York City Department of Education. Mary Martin Farrell is an instructional accountability associate with the Educational Testing Service in Buffalo, N.Y. Peter Herrmann was inducted into the Phelps-Clifton Springs (N.Y.) Central School District, Midlakes Athletic Hall of Fame in Oct. 2006. He is the associate head coach of men’s basketball at the University of Georgia. Cynthia Pille Jordan retired from her position as an elementary teacher at Port Byron (N.Y.) Central Schools.

1972Pauline Kurtz Decann was named principal of St. Michael School in Newark, N.Y. Michael Kohlhas was re-elected as treasurer of the National Plasterers Council. He is president of Leisure Craft Pools in Lancaster, N.Y. Susan Rumsey Strong received the Abigail Allen Award for Faculty and Staff at Alfred University. The award honors a faculty or staff member who has contributed to the campus and community by improving the lives of women. Susan is currently writing a book on Alfred University’s history.

1973David Dwyer retired after 34 years as director of transportation for the Geneseo (N.Y.) Central School District. He continues his public service as a councilman and deputy supervisor for the Town of Geneseo. Sharon Kelly was a featured speaker at a United Way Emerging Leaders Society seminar in Buffalo, N.Y. She is a partner with Hodgson Russ's Nonprofit Law and Health Law Practice Groups. Kathy Penner Morris retired from teaching English at Bloomfield (N.Y.) Central Schools. She recently performed in a one-act play at All Things Art in Canandaigua, N.Y.

1976Nancy Calligaris Carr was honored in May 2006 by Bergen Community College President, Dr. Judith K. Winn, for her outstanding service. Nancy is director of specialized services and director of the Center for Collegiate Deaf Education at Bergen Community College. Karen Redfield received a 2006 Distinguished Teacher Award from the Madison Area Technical Colleges (MATC) Foundation in Wisconsin. She is an English instructor at MATC.
