Mitchell Robinson received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal for his service as executive officer and acting commanding officer of the U.S. Forces Japan Naval Reserve Unit. He is a contracting officer at the Supervisor of Shipbuilding, Conversion and Repair, U.S. Navy in Groton, Conn. Thomas “Biff” Shanahan was recognized recently in the Dec. 27, 2004, issue of the Washington Post and the Jan. 3, 2005, issue of the Albany Times Union for his pro-bono lobbying work on behalf of the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind. Robert Spoor completed a summer course in Classic British Cinema at Oxford University in England. Joe Storey is the associate director of the library at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Michael Veley is director of a new sport management program with Syracuse (N.Y.) University’s College of Human Services and Health Professions. Peter Berry is the director of the Office of Defense Trade Controls Licensing (DTCL) at the Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, U.S. Department of State. DTCL is responsible for reviewing and adjudicating over 51,000 license applications annually for the export of defense articles and technological data, and the provision of defense services to foreign entities. Keith Bushardt is executive vice president of sales and marketing for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska. Susan Fagan Chichester, Geneseo director of computing and information technology, was named 2005 IT Woman of the Year by the Association for Women in Computing’s upstate New York chapter. The award recognizes contributions made by women to the field of information technology. Eileen Malet-Linn is a speech therapist at the St. Francis Hospital Center for Communication Disorders in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where she also serves as coordinator for the center’s mentally retarded/ mentally disabled program.
